How Search Works

The search feature looks at the keywords, caption, and location fields to find matches.  It knows how to interpret singular and plurals, so a search for "mountains" will return images with the keyword "mountain".

Multi-word searches

Boolean operators help you refine your search. For instance:

  • Hiker Glacier or Hiker AND Glacier will return all images that have both words in their metadata (Note that the AND operator must be capitalized.) ;
  • Iceberg OR Glacier will return images that have either the "Iceberg" word or the "Glacier" word in their metadata. (Note that the OR operator must be in capitalized.);
  • "Kenai Fjords National Park" will return images that match the exact phrase "Kenai Fjords National Park" ;
  • Kid OR Child AND Male will return images of boys (the "AND" is optional) ;
  • A AND B OR C AND D AND E OR F means "A AND D AND (B OR C OR E OR F)".

Partial matching and wildcards are not supported.
